Podcast editing for universities and colleges

Podcast editing for universities and colleges, timed around campus sign‑off

A campus show has a lot of voices: a professor between lectures, a dean on a tight calendar, a student who’s never sat at a mic. We make each of them sound like they belong on the same show.

Our podcast editing services team takes each episode from raw file to finished master, most often inside 3 to 5 business days. Consent and review stay with your school, and we’ll plan our dates around them.

Bring a recent episode and your term calendar. It’s half an hour.

Shows on campus

Which university shows need an editing team?

Most schools run more than one kind of show. Each one asks something a little different of the edit.

Faculty

Research explained out loud

Experts love detail, and they’ll often take the long way to a point. We trim the detours by ear, so the idea comes through and the professor still sounds like themselves.

Staff

Updates for people across campus

Department news, training, and leadership notes. We keep the levels even and the pace brisk, because these listeners have work waiting.

Students

Voices that are new to the mic

First-time guests tend to start over, trail off, or speak softly. We tidy that up without sanding off what makes a student sound real.

Alumni

Stories from people who’ve moved on

Graduates often call in from home offices and hotel rooms. We reduce the room noise, so a remote guest doesn’t sound like a phone call.

The edit itself

What happens to an episode once the recording stops?

You send the raw file. We send back an episode that’s ready for every app, and you won’t need a second vendor for video.

  • Editing. We take out flubs, filler words, restarts, and long silences. A pause that lands a point stays in.
  • Mixing. Hosts, guests, and music sit at a level where nobody’s too loud or too quiet.
  • Mastering. Final loudness lands near negative 16 LUFS, the volume podcast apps expect. Then we tag the file.
  • Video. Filmed it too? We sync the footage for a YouTube-ready cut with color and captions through our video podcast production team.
Consent and review

Who signs off before an episode goes public?

Your school does. We’re here to make the cut, and we’ll leave the judgment calls to the people who own them.

Your team keeps

  • Consent forms for students, staff, and guests.
  • Student privacy decisions, including any FERPA questions.
  • Communications or department review, in whatever order you run it.
  • The final yes on every episode.

Our engineers take on

  • Cutting, mixing, and mastering each episode.
  • Acting on reviewer notes and returning a fresh version.
  • Keeping your editing preferences where the whole team can see them.
  • Booking edit slots that leave room for each review round.
We don’t give legal or policy advice. If an episode needs a second look from your office, that’s your call, and the schedule bends to fit it.
Upload to release

How does an episode move through review?

Five stops, and your reviewers can step in wherever your process needs them.

Stop What happens Who leads
1. Send files Upload the raw recording through the Resonate app, with notes on any cuts. Your team
2. First cut One of our engineers works through the whole episode, start to finish. Resonate
3. Campus review An email tells you the cut is waiting. Reviewers listen and comment right in the app. Your team
4. Changes We make the requested edits and send the updated file. Resonate
5. Release Approve it, and the tagged file’s ready for Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Your team
Edit requests are cuts you flag when you upload. A revision request is a change after you’ve heard our first edit. Each tier comes with a set number of each.
Hear it for yourself

What does a human edit sound like next to an AI one?

Each clip starts with an AI tool’s edit and ends with one of our engineers.

Cutting on meaning

Software trims on silence. Our engineers listen for where a thought ends, so a breath before the key line can stay.

Which filler to keep

A few “ums” sound human. Remove every one and a relaxed chat starts to sound scripted.

Two voices, one room

The handoff between speakers is easy to miss until it’s wrong. Listen for how the second half settles.

The AI pass is quick and fine for a rough draft. The second half of each clip is the edit you’d get from us.
Editing tiers

How much editing does your campus show need?

Every tier gets mixing and mastering from a trained engineer. What changes is how much content editing you’d like.

Basic

Already cut

Your team has trimmed the episode and just wants it to sound right.

  • Mixing and mastering
  • No content editing
  • Raw audio as long as 120 minutes
Plus

Clean and finished

You’d like a polished episode without a long back and forth.

  • Editing, mixing, and mastering
  • Raw audio as long as 60 minutes
  • Edit and revision requests, up to a set number
Pro

A team that knows the show

The show matters to your office, and you want people who know it well.

  • Everything in Plus
  • A dedicated team and account representative
  • Priority turnaround

We price it by how often you release, how long episodes run, and what extras you want. The audio production tiers page has the full detail, and the podcast cost calculator gives you a range in about two minutes.

The track record

Why does a team beat one freelance editor on a campus show?

Semesters don’t pause for a sick day. A team with cover keeps releases moving when one person’s away.

50,000+podcast episodes our team has produced
3audio certifications held across the editing team

They’re iZotope RX (a tool for repairing damaged audio), Pro Tools, and Dolby Atmos Mixing. Our engineers also have formal training in recording arts.

You’ll explain your show once. Notes on intros, music, and how to say a visiting scholar’s name stay with the team, so episode thirty sounds like episode three.

The episode count comes from Resonate’s own records.
Switching mid-year

Can we change editors in the middle of a semester?

What we do first

  • Listen to your recent episodes to learn how the show is cut today.
  • Ask how you want it to sound, then write those preferences down for the team.
  • Plan the move with you, so releases keep going.

What that means for you

  • Listeners shouldn’t notice the handover.
  • Your current editor can finish an episode they’ve started.
  • It takes a little time, and we’ll tell you how much on the call.

Need more than editing? Our university podcast production covers planning and producing a whole campus show. For staff-only episodes, private podcast hosting keeps them for invited listeners only.

Higher ed editing FAQ

Questions from university and college teams

Things schools often ask before sending us a first episode.

Can you schedule edits around our communications review?

Yes. On the first call, we’ll ask who reviews each episode and in what order. Then we set edit dates that leave your reviewers the time they need.

Who handles student consent and privacy?

Your school does. Consent forms, student privacy, and any FERPA questions stay with your team. We edit what you approve and make the changes your reviewers request.

How fast do edited episodes come back?

Expect most episodes inside 3 to 5 business days. We count from the day we have every raw file and note, and Pro gets priority turnaround.

Can you edit faculty lectures and long interviews?

Yes. Plus covers up to 60 minutes of raw audio and Pro up to 70. If an episode’s already cut and only needs mixing and mastering, Basic covers up to 120 minutes.

Do you edit video for campus shows too?

Yes. We sync your footage to the edited audio and deliver a YouTube-ready cut with color and captions, from the same recording.

What does higher education podcast editing cost?

That turns on your release schedule, episode length, and anything unusual you need. We’ll scope it with you on a short call.

Send us the episode your office likes least

We’ll play it back with you, say what we’d change, and show how edits could fit your review calendar.

Thirty minutes. No slides, and nothing to prepare.
