Narrative podcasts for universities and colleges

Narrative podcasts for universities and colleges, told like a documentary

Every campus has stories that a brochure can’t hold: the founding years, the lab that changed a field, the alumna who came back. A series gives them room to breathe.

Our narrative podcast production turns that material into a season people want to finish.

Bring a story idea, or just a box of old recordings. Both are welcome.

Why narrative

Why tell a campus story as a series?

An interview show is built around a conversation. A narrative show is built around a story, with interviews as raw material.

It gives listeners a reason to keep going: a question that hasn’t been answered yet, a person they want to hear from, a turn they didn’t see coming.

That takes more than editing. We plan the season like a story, write scenes around real tape, and use sound and music to carry listeners from one scene to the next.

People tend to remember a story long after they’ve forgotten a talking point. That’s a handy trait when you’re explaining what makes a school different.

Stories worth a season

Which campus stories work best as a series?

Narrative suits stories with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Here are three starting points.

Institution

Your origin story, told properly

How the school started, the people who built it, and the problem it set out to solve. Told as a story people choose to hear, not an ad they skip.

Community

Your mission, in people’s own voices

Students, faculty, alumni, and the neighbors your school serves. Supporters hear why the work matters in the voices of the people doing it.

True stories

A season with a clear arc

A research story, a campus mystery, or a moment in history. You bring the story and the tape, and we help shape it into a series.

Not sure which story you’ve got? That’s normal. Tell us what’s in the archive or on your mind, and we’ll help you find the one that can carry a season.

Division of labor

What do you bring, and what do we build?

What you bring

  • The story and what it means to your school
  • Any interviews, notes, or tape you already have
  • The final say on what the series says

What we build with you

  • Producer support for scripting, built around your interviews and narration
  • Edits that keep the pace tight and the story clear
  • Sound design, music, and transitions that move listeners between scenes

It’s a team effort, and you’re never handed a blank page. Your school keeps the calls on consent, student privacy, and campus sign-offs. Those decisions stay with your team, and we build the schedule around them.

What goes into a series

What does a narrative series include?

Every series is different, so we scope it around your story.

Narrative work sits inside our Custom Packages, alongside scripting and docuseries support.

Take what the story needs. We don’t pad a series with parts it won’t use.

  • Story and scripting help, from your interviews and narration
  • Premium editing, with long pauses, repeats, and distractions gone
  • Sound design and music that set the mood
  • Audio restoration for damaged or noisy recordings
  • Mixing and mastering to the volume podcast apps expect
  • A dedicated account rep and production team, with live chat when you need it
How it works

How does a narrative series come together?

01

Share your story

Tell us what the series is about and send any interviews, notes, or tape you already have.

02

We shape and produce it

Our team edits the episodes and adds sound design and music.

03

Review and revise

You get an email when each episode is ready. Leave comments in the app, and we revise.

04

Release and grow

Publish the series and build an audience that sticks around for the next season.

The wider process is on how we work with clients. Prefer a conversation show for admissions or alumni? Our university podcast production page covers that.

Pricing

How is a narrative series priced?

Every series is scoped to its story. A five-episode limited series and a weekly documentary show are very different projects.

So we quote after a short call about your story, your tape, and your timeline. Narrative production is part of our Custom Packages.

Not sure a series is the right shape yet? Say so on the call. If an interview show fits your idea better, we’ll tell you.

FAQ

Questions about narrative podcasts for schools

What is a narrative podcast?

It’s a podcast told as a story, with room for conversation inside it. It usually has a narrator, a structure across episodes, and music and sound that carry the listener through it, like an audio documentary.

Do you help write the script?

Yes. Scripting support is part of our custom production, working from your interviews and research. You stay in control of what the story says.

Can we use old campus recordings?

Usually, yes. Audio restoration is part of narrative production, so damaged or noisy recordings can often be cleaned up and used.

How long does a narrative series take?

It depends on the number of episodes and how much tape exists. We set a schedule with you at the start, and you can read more about our production work too.

Who reviews each episode?

You do. When an episode is ready, you get an email and can leave comments in the app, and we revise. Your school decides who else signs off first.

Do you only make narrative shows?

No. Many of our clients make interview or conversation shows. If your story works better that way, we’ll say so.

How much does a narrative series cost?

It’s scoped to your series. Narrative work is part of our Custom Packages, and we quote after a short call.
